My Memories

I have a bad and short memory, so I usually can’t keep in my memory. That’s why I write homework, school events, tests, someone’s birthday and my plans on my diary. Last year when I was in America, I had forgotten my mom’s birthday. I didn’t even write her birthday on my diary because I thought I surly will remember her birthday. My dad sent e-mail to me about I forgot her birthday and I called to my mom and explained why I forgot her birthday. My mom understood me because I was adapting in America high school, so I was busy. However, yesterday was my mom’s birthday and I knew her birthday by checking e-mail from my dad again. Right now, I am really guilty I think I am not good daughter for her and never think of my family. I should have put my family’s birthday in my diary, but I didn’t because I didn’t know how my memory is really bad. I think I should call to my mom right now and sing the birthday song or send a birthday card. I hope my memory is like computer


Cultural shock

Before I came to America, I had known about foreign culture by watching the television programs and reading books. Also, the difference of culture between Korea and other country didn’t affect to my life. However, I live in America and attend high school, so the differences of American culture are important to me. First, school is totally different from my Korean school. American high school is the place that provides to students opportunity to experience sports, art, music and volunteer. However, Korean high schools are separated the fields of study, sport, art, music and engineering. If I choose the school for study, it is hard to experience sport, art and music. Second, America high schools start at 8:00 am and dismiss at 3:30pm, so students have more time to sport, work and do whatever they want. However, Korean high school starts at 7:30 am and dismiss at 10:00pm, so students don’t have time to enjoy their life not in school. Third, I had not been party in my life so never wear party dresses and care about partner. Since I was in America high school, I went every party that school have and had fun of dancing and hanging out with friends at party. I really like to know culture and feel of shock from differences because it makes me to realize how big world is and wonder about more culture.
