Ski Practice
I went skiing at Copper Mountain on 26th of November. First, I got ready to ski. I met coach Lyle about 1:30 p.m. He told me the skiing plan that we were about to do then he said,“ please put on your skies and goggles.” He asked me to do some warm ups. Second, we went up the mountain. Coach Lyle and I then walked over to the ski lift. We used a special access because I was a ski student. In about 5 minutes, a lift came up and we got into the chair. I became scared as the lift took us higher and higher. Coach Lyle tried to distracted me from my fear and asked me,“ How do you like America?” I was trembling in my boots and answered as brave as I could, “I like it very much.” It took about fifteen minutes to reach the top with my feet dangling. Finally, with my eyes closed, I skied down from the mountain. Before going down, coach Lyle showed me how to turn and control my speed. I was sacred since the slope was very steep. But, Coach Lyle pat my shoulder and encouraged me. I convinced myself that it was safe and pushed-off down the slope. No sooner than I started, I fell down. Only my pride was hurt, I stood up and continued skiing. Because of Lyle’s instruction, I adapted and improvised and quickly began to turn and control my speed. It took about an hour to get down from the top of the mountain. Coach Lyle congratulated me and said, “ you really did a good job for your first time.

My friend Lucy and I went to see the Hays High musical on 11th of November in the evening. First, we listened to the orchestra play. We took our seats before the musical began. It was very dark in the auditorium at the very beginning. Later, the light came up on the stage and the orchestra began to play a music which was composed by Rachmaninoff. We all enjoyed the musical and clapped, and I even yelled “Bravo!” Second, we learned the moral of the musical. The musical described a boy who was looking for a chocolate bar with a golden ticket. Of course, it was not easy for him to find it. He always encouraged himself and by saying, “Just think positive, you can find it.” He overcame many difficulties and finally find the golden ticket. We learned to think positive when meeting difficulties. Finally, We took some photos and got autographs. Visiting the cathedral of the plains in Victoria

Last Monday, the school took the juniors to visit the Cathedral of the plains in Vitoria, Kansas. It broadened our knowledge in three ways. First, we received a very formal mass. At about 8:00 p.m. We all arrived at the cathedral, walked in and sat down. The father gave us mass and we all prayed. Most of the students were Catholic and we sang hymns. Second, we received a special lecture. We went upstairs and sat in a conference and listened to a lecture. The lecture was about helping the poor in the world and it was given by a student leader from Fort Hays States University. She showed us some pictures and said, “There are many poor people who need food, water, and medical services in Africa.” Third, students discussed the acceptance of Catholicism in the world. At around 1:00 p.m. Everyone was asked to sit together and discuss Catholicism in other countries. Nick led the discussion and I was asked a tough question, “Is Catholicism accepted in China?” I thought for a while and answered, “As long as you don’t mix religion with politics, it is acceptable.” Then everyone began to talk about Catholicism in their own countries.

Vote

I had a memorable experience at a voting station in Hays. First, Mrs. Wagoner introduced me to the officials. They warmly welcome me and said,“ where are you from?” I replied,“ I’m from China and I am very interested in the American election system.” Second, I saw the procedure of voting. One of the lady official brought me close to the voting machine and she said, “There are three ways to vote, this is the electronic method.” Then she turned on the machine and showed me how to use it. The lady official took me to the table where the people cast their vote in a box. I was really surprised and couldn’t believe I could get so close to the American election. David’s Story

David shared a story which is between his mom and him. The story is about choosing noodles. The mom prepared noodles for 3 times to David and always let him the first person to chose. But at the last time David realized that he should not be selfish and understand that his mom always consider him first, so he let his mom chose first, and finally himself got 2 eggs in the noodles.

Lesson

From David’s story I realized that Do not be so selfish. We are supposed to be considerate and try to think about others when you want to do something. I believe that we will get more benefits if we care others more. For example we can try to share something with our family member and friends. no matter how small is it the share , it could be a very sweet impression to everyone.

My personal experience

I studied in The Fencing team when I was 10 years old. My family was not so rich, But my mom always bought me a birthday cake and celebrate the birthday for me every year. I am always touched because no matter how busy she is, she would brought a birthday cake to my dorm and spend sometime with me. What a silly thing is that I have never done something for my mom’s birthday. I even forget it. In my 13 years old, since I grew up, I realized that I Can not be selfish and decided should do something for my mom. I went the a cake shop and bought a attractive cake with my porket money 100 Yuan and brought it back home. When my mom went back from her company, she walked into the house, seeing the cake, and smiling so happily. We sang birthday song and celebrated together. I knew that she must be very happy, I felt happy too because she smiled. I believe this small smile is the best response when you do something or care for others.

Summary
David’s mom cooked two bowls of noodles and let him chose one. There was one egg on top of one of the noodles. David chose the one that had egg on it, and left the other one for his mother. His mom said nothing and took the other blow. But David found there were two eggs under the noodle in his mother’s blow. The next day, his mom cook noodle for him again and let him chose first. There was still an egg on one of the noodle, David thought, the noodle without egg on it must have two eggs in the noodle, and so he chose it. However actually there was no egg in the blow. The third day, David’s mom still cooked noodle, this time David did not chose first, he told his mom ,”mom, you chose first.” His mom chose the one had an egg on it, and David got the one had no egg on the noodle, but finally he found two eggs under the noodle in his blow.
Lesson
Thinking other more, you will get more.
In my country we have a fete day named the Spring Festival. It is on the first day of the lunar calendar. I always went to my grandparents’ house with my parents on that day. During the dinner, the elders always give us money as gift. When I was eight, my grandfather gave me the money, and I gave it back to him, and told him, “grandpa, this money is the gift for you.” He was so happy when I gave him this gift, although that was the money he gave to me. When I came back home, my mom said I did a good job, and she took me to brought a gift for myself, I lost a gift but I got another gift, I was so happy.

I have to running every day, because if I want pass the test, I have to finish my the hundred-meter dash in a very short time. I practice every day and my mom always be with you when I was practice. Every time I wanted to give up, she always said:“do not give up, I know you must can do it”. Because of my hard working, I passed the test. Although running is a easy thing to others, but it’s really a big challenge to me. I never know I can do so well before I try to solve this problem.

Own story

I had a cat in my house. I thought it was lonely because it was the only pet in my house. So I decided to make friend for it. However my mom rejected about my decision, but I just brought a new little kitten to my house. My parents didn’t tell me off and they just want me to clean it’s hairs.

I thought that it would be good friend to my cat and be good pet to our family. After one month, it messed up everything in my house. I talked about this to my mom and she suggested me send it to my grandmother’s house. So I sent the little kitten to there. I was sad, but I know I deserved it.

lesson If you start consider for others, you will get a lot than before.

When I was a little kid, I was always considering myself. For instance, when mom brought 2 hamburgers to our house, I would eat them alone. Don't give others. With I grew up, I knew much more than before, so I always considered for other people. Every time I let others choose before I did, I would feel pleasant. Others also would feel happy because they could feel I was respecting them and showed smile to me.
