Phillips story
Mr. Nakagawa’s friend Phillips who is from Germany came by our school today. He came to our ESL listening and conversation class and told us his story. He said he traveled all over the world by cycling. He has gone to a lot of countries in Europe. After he went though the whole Europe, he went to Asia. Then, he visited China, Nepal and Japan. Japan is the place the first time he met Mr. Nakagawa. When he talked about China which is my country, he said people were kind. However, when he talked with Chinese people, their eyes were not connecting with his eyes because people were a little bit shy. I think he is a great person.
My lesson: take more challenges.
When I was in China, life was boring. We studied almost 16 hours everyday. We only had 1 day off every week. Study was everything we should do. We didn't need to care of other things like did our laundry and house jobs. Parents would do our laundry even wash our socks for us except studying. We were locked in our room to study at least 5 hours everyday after school. Parents and teachers thought if our grades were good, everything would be good. I was tired of that kind of life, so I decided to come to America. Sometimes I didn't dare to go abroad alone, but I wanted take more challenges in my life like doing everything by myself. I thought I wasn't a kid that depend everything on parents anymore. If I keep staying in China, the life will not be changed. Now I am studying in America. Even though sometimes I miss my hometown, I have to change a lot. I got a new life and I enjoy studying here.
